Before B-MEG Head Coach Tim Cone officially started practice, Assistant Coach Johnny Abarrientos and point guard Mark Barroca were already in deep training. Johnny talked. Mark listened. Lesson number 76: How to steal the ball from a big man.

"Coach papano ang pag-timing ng sundot," Mark asked Johnny. "Papano ba ang timing 'pag gusto mo to smother a big man na hindi ka makikita?"

James Yap had a game-high 32 points, including 19 in the first half, and Peter June Simon had the biggest shot in the game, a go-ahead three-pointer with under a minute left in the game. The win put B-MEG in a tie for third spot in the team standing with the Elasto Painters with a 7-4 win-loss mark.

“Two or three weeks ago, I knew we were playing better basketball, but I didn’t think we’ll win five straight,” said B-MEG coach Tim Cone.

B-Meg Llamados is now gaining momentum to prove to the world why they are considered as one of the high-caliber teams of the PBA. The first half of the season was sort of a transition period for the team – as they thrive hard on the infamous triangle offense of their new acquired coach, Tim Cone. The abysmal team standing of the Llamados earlier this season is very disappointing – considering they are the favored team to win the championship this year. (Just look at their lineup plus their grand slam coach.)

For kids who started watching in the late ’80s — if the Crispa-Toyota years were the PBA’s golden age, then these were definitely the silver age — this San Miguel Beer commercial featuring Beermen Samboy Lim, Ramon Fernandez, Yves Dignadice, and Alvin Teng brings back a lot of fond memories.
