B-Meg kept in step with Petron Blaze with both stretching their streaks to six games to dislodge Talk n Text as tournament leader Tuesday.

James Yap followed up a 32-point game with a 27-point showing while Kerby Raymundo put in double-double numbers as the Llamados drubbed the Tropang Texters, 114-104, before a crowd of over 10,000 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Boosters whipped the Alaska Milk Aces, 90-85, earlier in the night.

They seized league leadership with the Llamados toppling the Texters later on.

“This is the time to get Talk n Text. You have to take advantage of them not in their strength,” said coach Tim Cone as the Llamados dealt the Texters a second straight loss.

With their back-to-back defeats, the Texters slid to second place with an 8-3 win-loss card, just half-game in front of the Llamados at 8-4.

Going to the December homestretch of the elimination phase, the Boosters pace the field at 9-3.

Talk n Text is on a skid but remains a leading championship contender – at least in Cone’s eyes.

“Because of these experiences, they will be a stronger team down the road when everybody gets back,” said Cone.

With their crippled lineup and all, the Texters gave a good fight before eventually yielding to the Llamados.

B-Meg lost a 17-point bulge on Talk n Text’s third quarter onslaught, and the Llamados needed to regroup to overcome the Texters.

Yap and Raymundo combined for 21 points in the payoff period, including the big shots that scuttled the Texters’ bid.

Roger Yap had his contribution in setting up their plays and controlling the tempo. “Roger played a perfect fourth quarter, keeping PJ (Simon) on the bench.

That’s hard to do because PJ is so dynamic,” said Cone.

The multi-titled American coach was also all praises of his team for the calm and composure they displayed in the face of the Texters’ final-half fightback.

“That’s what we’re trying to preach. Whether we’re up by 10 or down by 10, it doesn’t matter.

We have to play the game the same,” said Cone.

The returning Jimmy Alapag keyed Talk n Text’s third-quarter charge and was badly missed as he cramped out in the last four minutes of play.

The Llamados unleashed a 9-0 run upon Alapag’s exit, reestablishing command they kept to the finish. (SB)
