MANILA, Philippines — Barangay Ginebra, currently at the bottom half of the standings with an even 4-4 record, is looking at revamping its lineup through trades to put more zing in its PBA Philippine Cup campaign.

A source privy to negotiations confirmed that the Kings are talking to several teams for possible deals. No additional details were available.

The plan arose even after the Kings ended a two-game skid with a 92-79 win over newcomer, last Saturday in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

“Hopefully this week,” said the source, who requested not to be named as there’s no final deal yet on the trade talks.
Ginebra mentor Siot Tanquingcen did confirm that they intend to revamp the team to make it more competitive not just this all-Filipino conference but for future seasons of the Kings.

“We have recommendations, but we don’t know yet if it pushes through. What I know is that management is working on it,” Tanquingcen told the Bulletin in a phone interview. “Of course, there’s always a need to upgrade.”

Tanquingcen did not discuss his recommendations or the positions that need to be upgraded.

RnW Pacific Pipes, getting big games from two debuting Fil-Am players, rallied in the payoff period to score an 80-76 win over CafeFrance in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Guard JR Buensuceso and Jordan Sanvictores led a furious rally by the Steelmasters in the final seven minutes to improve their record to 2-4.

Buensuceso finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists while the 6-foot-6 Sanvictores added 17 points and 16 boards.

In the second game, Jesse Collado scored a go-ahead three-point shot with 15.3 seconds left to give Big Chill a thrilling 62-61 win over DUB Unlimited.
