Talk n Text tries to protect its hold of the lead while two rampaging teams look to sustain their charges and affect a shakeup in the leader board.

The Tropang Texters meet one of these two teams head-on in a rare PBA Tuesday bill at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Texters and the B-Meg Llamados slug it out at 7:30 p.m. to close out the November play dates of the PBA Philippine Cup. Despite a humbling loss the last time out, the Texters are still the tournament leaders but look vulnerable with a badly depleted roster.

They could well be in for another tough night versus the Llamados, who’ll come out riding the momentum of a five-game run.

The Llamados are determined to keep going, hoping to land in the top two at the end of the elims.

The Texters need to recover from 96-131 blowout by the Powerade Tigers Sunday or they may find the Petron Blaze Boosters dislodging them atop the heap.

The Boosters, the Texters’ chief pursuers half a game behind at 8-3, play the beleaguered Alaska Milk Aces in the day’s other game.

Talk n Text coach Chot Reyes said they have a job cut out for them versus B-Meg. “Without our top four defenders (Ali Peek, Ryan Reyes, Jarred Dillinger and Aaron Aban), we’re sitting ducks.

We’re back to being the worst defensive team in the PBA and it showed (in our game against Powerade),” said Reyes.

B-Meg coach Tim Cone said the Texters could well be in a tight situation but can’t be taken for granted.

“Talk n Text is coming off a tough loss and has a short turnaround, but it’s always good to get back quickly on the horse after you’ve been thrown, and that serve them well.

We expect them to be highly motivated and prepared despite one day of rest,” said Cone.

“For us, it can be hard to prepare for them because we don’t know at this point which players are going to sit out with injury or who will suddenly play.

They’re a terrifically deep team and they do a great job playing through their injuries,” Cone added. Peek has shown up in their last game.

Reyes said it's up to Peek to decide when is he ready to come back. Also uncertain is the status of Rich Alvarez who walked the aisle with longtime celebrity girlfriend Kyla Monday. (sb)
