“It’s a crucial game for us to see if we have improved and can compete with teams that have higher standing,” said Ginebra coach Siot Tanquingcen.
“It’s a character game for us. If we hurdle this obstacle, we will be okay,” said Meralco coach Ryan Gregorio.
Ginebra is coming off back-to-back come-from-behind wins over Powerade and Shopinas.com while Meralco is back in action after battered badly by Rain or Shine Sunday.
The Kings are now looking to beat a formidable team while the Bolts are determined to bounce back from a humbling setback.
The Bolts are at 4-3 while the Kings are at 3-2, trailing the Elasto Painters (5-1), the Talk n Text Tropang Texters (4-1) and the Barako Bull Energy (4-2).
“The loss to Rain or Shine brought us back earth. It was a game wherein you would like to forget the outcome but not the pain of such a humbling defeat. I hate losing but I love the lessons learned,” said Gregorio.
The Elasto Painters torched the Bolts with 22-of-32 three-point shooting in fashioning out a 139-95 rout.
The Bolts were ripped apart when they’re supposed to get stronger on the return of Macmac Cardona, Sol Mercado and Reynel Hugnatan.
The Elasto Painters, however, didn’t give the Bolts a chance with their torrid shooting.
The Kings, meanwhile, displayed their never-say-die spirit in pulling off incredible wins over the Tigers and the Clickers.
On both occasions, the Kings fought back from a five-point deficit inside the final minute to win. (SB)
