It was the turn of Petron Blaze to withstand a late game run by Talk ‘N Text.
Danny Ildefonso buried an important jumper from deep in the left corner that gave the Boosters the breathing space they needed to preserve a 91-89 win in Game Two of their best-of-seven semifinal series against the Tropang Texters in the 2011-12 PBA Philippine Cup Saturday night at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Ildefonso’s basket with 14.8 seconds left in the game came after the Tropang Texters unloaded a 10-1 blast to threaten cut the lead to a single point, 87-86.

After the two-time Most Valuable Player gave his team an 89-86 spread, Jimmy Alapag muffed a three-pointer in the ensuing play.Rookie Chris Lutz sealed the win with two free throws to level the series a one game apiece.
“It was team effort especially sa defense,” said Petron coach Ato Agustin. “Same thing lang naman ang game plan. Pero unlike sa Game One kung saan malamya kami sa first three quarters, dito from the start, ‘yung energy at intensity nandoon.”
Alex Cabagnot hit a game-high 24 points but was slowed down by foul trouble late in the game.
Joseph Yeo picked up the slack when Cabagnot was on the bench and helped the Boosters to erect the double-digit lead with 2:04 remaining in the game.
But Alapag and Japeth Aguilar combined forces for their late rally capped by Kelly Williams’ drive before the clutch hit by Ildefonso, who scored his 12th point of the game. Petron’s win pruned down the series to a best-of-five affair.
Yeo chipped in 17 points and six assists while Arwind Santos added 11 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists. It was Santos’ 14th double-double game in 18 matches this conference.
“Talo sa effort. They have more points off turnovers which is a good indicator of effort,” said Talk ‘N Text coach Chot Reyes
Alapag had a team-high 17 points while Aguilar and Jason Castro each had 15 points for the defending champions, who took Game One, 87-83. Talk ‘N Text also drew 13 points and 12 rebounds from Kelly Williams.
